Using either Karen Finley or Danny Hoch, explain any part of their work that you can relate with and why? Which topics and issues do they address that the mainstream media doesn’t even want to touch?
I can somewhat relate to the McDonalds piece done by Danny Hoch. I say somewhat because even though i've been in a situation where i'd be treated like garbage by customers, I've never made it escalate to the point where'd I would yell or curse back, but i've wanted to. I think the media usually concentrates on the employees ill treatment to customers versus the other way around.
I can definitely relate with Danny Hoch when he was working in McDonald's. People have the nerve to automatically presume the worst from you just by looking at you. Profiling is the worst problem we have in the world today, as well as racism, which many people believe is eradicated for this world, but in reality is well and alive today.
I can relate to Karen because she was very unique and her thoughts about things are very different. She just has a different way of expressing herself. She's a interesting individual
I can relate to Danny because I work at something similar to Macdonalds, and some people are nice but there are some that will insult and make funny jokes about you and think they are not doing any thing wrong. People take advantage of you because they think that you can't do or say anything back to them because you are working, and if you do you will get fired.
Danny Hoch is a troubled soul. The things he talks about does turn heads...in the opposite direction. Hes so explicit in nature. He can manage to grab a hold of anyones attention but he can only hold on to a select few.
I can relate to Danny Hoch because i feel that he is "real". He doesn't hold anything back and he speaks whats on his mind. I can understand his anger because i too feel that sometimes people are quick to judge without any knowledge of what they are judging. To some people, the things he says might be morally incorrect. But then you gotta question what is morality if it makes us unhappy?
I admire Karen Finely ways of expressing her feelings uniquely especially about touchy issues such as abuse towards women. Especially in today's world where there are tons of reports about women being abused by a spouse or human traffic more each day and increasing in numbers.

ReplyDeleteI sort of relate to Karen because she expresses herself in a way that most people don't really express themselves
